A walk at the end of November
The rest of the photos from our walk at the end of November.
Mostly in the frame are our queen, Walkiria.
On walks, she stays close to us, doesn't approach people or dogs we pass, doesn't cross the road, and isn't interested in animal tracks.
Despite this, yesterday we encountered a very unpleasant situation. We were walking past a man walking a dog on a leash. We just wanted to pass each other peacefully—Hakon was on the leash, Walkiria was walking right next to me.
At one point, Walkiria turned her head toward his dog and was kicked in the head with a knee.
I understand that fear can trigger violent reactions, but this kind of behavior toward an animal is difficult for me to accept. I also feel that tension and aggression don't help any dog build a sense of security or positive associations.
On walks, we always try to adapt our dog walking method to the location, situation, and specific dog—leash where needed, and only loosen the leash when the dog is fully under control. This situation made me reflect on how differently we perceive safety on walks and how difficult it can sometimes be to meet someone halfway. I'm curious how you cope in similar situations and what helps you most maintain peace—for yourselves and your dogs.
